Schild Estate Moorooroo Shiraz 2001
|
BN#167264 |
The wine saw 20 months in a blend of new and old American oak hogsheads, following extended time in contact with the skins during processing to maximise the colour and flavour extraction. With such an extended time in oak the wine has developed additional flavours of mint eucalyptus and cherries and aromas of tobacco, cigar box, vanilla and blackcurrant.
Wine Spectator
Ripe, rich and distinctive, with plum, pomegranate, exotic spice and licorice mingling on a supple frame, finishing with polish and power. A bit Porty, but it strives for a balance that will keep it going. Best from 2008 through 2020. 200 cases made.
Score: 91.
