This wine is intensely dark in colour with purple tinges. A loaded nose of blackberry, raspberry, pepper and spices that is backed up by smokey American oak. The palate resembles the aromas with nice firm tannins back up the vanillin oak. Wine & Spirits Super dense and dark in color, this wine's aromatic intensity stays with you after each sip; you can breathe in the violet and mineral scents along with the warm raspberry flavor. The wine itself is supple and powerful, with lovely depth, a dynamic young McLaren Vale red. Score: 93. February 2006. Wine Spectator Rich and generous, a big, tannic mouthful of plum, blueberry and earthy spice flavors that get a bit hot on the finish. Best after 2007. 2,500 cases made. Score: 87. —Harvey Steiman, February 28, 2006.
