Wayne Thomas Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Wayne Thomas Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Red
BN#191322

Showing excellent colour and ‘minty’ bouquet, this wine has good fine fruit/oak integration with a full lingering palate. Will improve with several years of cellaring.

Wine Enthusiast Full-bodied, lushly textured and definitely approachable, this Cab takes superripe fruit flavors of plum and cassis, then wraps them in layers of barrel-derived complexity: smoke, cedar, coffee and molasses all cosset the fruit. Finishes long. Editors' choice Score: 91. February 01, 2008.

James Halliday Rich, archetypal McLaren Vale, with blackcurrant, chocolate, tannins and alcohol all streaming together. Score: 90.

Wine Advocate The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is a glass-staining purple color. Slightly muted aromatically, it gives up notes of toasty oak, black currants, and blackberry. Full-bodied, it offers spicy black fruit flavors, but is slightly compressed in the finish. Drink it over the next 12 years. The late Wayne Thomas, a well known winemaker and consultant, launched his namesake label in 1994 with fruit sourced from around the McLaren Vale. Score: 89. October 31, 2007.
