Colour: Brilliant black cherry, with vibrant magenta rim. Bouquet: Inviting harmony of milk chocolate/mocha, poached black cherry and liquorice all-sorts, whisp of toasted coconut, and cool climate forest floor. Palate: The bouquet is reflected on the palate with a long, generous, balanced palate of black cherry, red plum, mulberry, fine black tea tannins and a hint of black olive tapenade. Food matching: Mediterranean and spicy Asian cuisines. James Halliday Strong colour; licorice, blackberry and spice attest to the cool, martime growing conditions; very long, persistant finish. Score: 93. Wine Advocate The 2005 "Circe" Shiraz - Viognier (3%) was aged for 19 months in seasoned French oak. Purple-colored, it exhibits aromas of cedar, spice box, blueberry, and blackberry. This is followed by a wine with attractive, spicy blue and black fruit flavors, a supple texture, good concentration, but a tapered finish. Score: 87. October 31, 2007.
